The Shimlapuri police on Thursday booked Hardeep Singh of Bhagwan Chowk in Janta Nagar, for allegedly abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl. Police claimed that the accused had also made lewd videos of the victim and circulated it using multimedia services.

The victim's father in his complaint said the accused had abducted his daughter on May 13, on pretext of marriage.

He said the accused raped her daughter.

He added, “She managed to escape last week, and narrated the story to us, following which we lodged a complaint against the accused.”

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 363, 366-A, 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Sections 66-E, 67-A and 67-B of the IT Act and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The victim is a student of Class-11 (non medical).

Station house officer (SHO), Shimlapuri, inspector Varinder Singh Gill said the police launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.
