The Amritsar city police have booked Kuldip Singh, a resident of Mata Ganga Ji Nagar, for allegedly raping a widow with whom he had been living for the past eight years.

A case has been registered under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sultanwind police station on the complaint of the victim; however, no arrest has yet been made so far.

The complainant stated that she was a widow with two children and charged the accused with conspiracy for usurping her property.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satnam Singh of the Sultanwind police station, who is investigating into the matter, said the complainant alleged that the accused proposed her for a marriage with him and started living in her house. "She alleged that the accused had physical relationship with her for the last eight years, thereafter he started teasing her," said the ASI.

The ASI added that the complainant alleged that the accused told her that he did so as he only wanted physical pleasure and her property.

"A case under section 376 of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are being held into the matter," he said.
