In yet another incident, the Shimlapuri police on Thursday booked a man for raping his wife.

In her complaint to the police, the 35-year-old woman, a resident of Kalera village of New Delhi, said she tied the knot with Jasbir Singh of Labour Colony of Gill Road on June 24 last year.

She alleged that the accused had promised her that he would take her to his house in Patiala, but failed to keep his words.

The woman further alleged that the accused had kept her in a house at Labour Colony, Gill Road, and established physical relations with her without her consent. Thereafter, she had moved to Delhi.

Inspector Balwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) at the Shimlapuri police station, said the woman has lodged the complaint at Delhi. The Delhi police had then forwarded the complaint to Ludhiana following which the city police registered a case on Thursday.

The SHO said there was a complaint of theft against the complainant too. The police would take appropriate action after investigating the matter, he added.
