The Sahnewal police have booked a medical quack for allegedly raping the 22-year-old sister of his assistant.
The victim alleged that she visited her brother at his workplace at New Durga Colony of Sahnewal, to hand him lunch around three months ago. But her brother was not at work. When his employer Vijay Khushwaha spotted her, he took her inside his clinic, where he raped her, and asked her to remain mum after promising to marry her.
She alleged that she recently discovered she was pregnant, following which she approached Khushwaha. But he refused to marry her, and pressured her to undergo an abortion. When she refused and pushed him for marriage, he threatened to upload her lewd pictures on social networking sites if she did not let up.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Joginder Singh of Sahnewal police station, said the quack was at large. He had been booked under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
