Man booked for strangulating wife in Moga

The district police have booked a man for allegedly strangulating her wife at Mehmewala village in this district on Saturday evening. Police officials said that the deceased has been identified as Rajdeep Kaur (25). The deceased's woman is survived by hes two children of 4 and 6 year old.

Desh Raj sub inspector of Moga city-1 police station, who is also investigation officer of this case, said that the victim's father Chamkaur Singh, a resident of Mohalla Angadpura, Moga, complained to the police that his daughter Rajdeep Kaur was married with driver Nirmal Singh seven years ago. "After a petty domestic violence Nirmal Singh murdered my daughter on Saturday evening. Some local residents informed me over the phone and I complained to the police in this regard," said Chamkaur Singh.

On the other hand, the victim's sons Gurwinder Singh (6) and Sukhdeep Singh (4) told the police that their father gave them Rs 10 for buying candies from a nearby shop. "When we returned to home we saw that my father was strangulating my mother. We cried and called our neighbor came forward and tried to stop my father but failed," they added.

Investigation officer further said, "As soon as we received this information we reached at the spot and recorded the statements of local residents. We recovered the body and brought it to Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital, Moga, for post-mortem. After the post-mortem the body was handed over to the family members. We are waiting the autopsy report so far," said SI.

Police official further said, "A case has been registered against the victim's husband Nirmal Singh under section 302 of Indian Penal Code basis on the statement of the victim's father Chamkaur Singh. However, further investigation is underway at the moment."

Reliable sources said that with the help of local residents the police arrested Nirmal Singh after one and half hour of murder.
