An accused of rape and abduction has made startling revelation before the police during interrogation. The accused, Sarabjit Singh (26) of Lohka village of Tarn Taran, told police that the woman, Binder Kaur (32), who accused him of rape and abduction, had murdered her husband Rajinder Singh (30) two years ago.
Acting on this information, the police dug up the floor of the woman’s house in Talwandi Kalan on Tuesday and recovered the skeleton of the deceased in presence of an executive magistrate. The body was buried more than four feet deep. The woman is absconding. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
It may be recalled that Gurdeep Singh of Talwandi Kalan village had informed the police two years ago that his brother Rajinder Singh had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. He also informed that the relations between Rajinder and his wife Binder Kaur were strained. The disappearance of Rajinder remained a mystery until Binder Kaur got an FIR lodged against Sarabjit Singh for rape and abduction of her child. The woman is said to have illicit relationship with Sarabjit, whom she had confided in about the murder and burial of her husband.
Binder Kaur had alleged on December 12 that Sarabjit Singh raped her and also kidnapped her 12-year-old child. The Ladhowal police arrested the accused in no time and recovered the child.
During interrogation, Sarabjit told police that he had established relationship with the woman. The police said that he was blackmailing the woman by demanding `50,000. He threatened her that in case she failed to pay, he would inform the police about her husband’s murder. He came to Ludhiana on December 12 and took her son to pressurise her.
Sub-Inspector Randhir Singh, the station house officer (SHO) of Ladhowal police station, said the woman was absconding. “The reason behind the murder will be ascertained after her arrest. The indulgence of some other person in the crime is also suspected,” he added.
