A man committed suicide at Rajpura town and another tried it at Kaidupur village of the district. Rajiv Sardana, 43, a resident of Rajpura town, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself. Ritu Verma, wife of the deceased, in her compliant, alleged that several people, including Ribu and Goldy, residents of Rajpura; Jacky, Bittu, Chikoo, Nanak Chand, Ashok and Pankaj forced her husband to commit suicide.
She added that they all had a clash over finances with her husband and had been regularly forcing her husband to pay a huge amount of money. She said that her husband took the extreme step in depression as he was not able to pay the amount.A case has registered under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at City Rajpura police station.
Station house officer (SHO) Harvinder Singh said that Rajiv had also written a suicide note which has recovered by the police. The content of the suicide is sill not known. He added that he was an addicted gambler and investigations are on to reveal the truth.
In another incident, Gurmeet Singh, resident of Kaidupur village, also tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house. He was rushed to the civil hospital at Nabha. His condition is stated to be serious. Police have registered a case under section 309 (punishment for attempted suicide) of the IPC against Gurmeet Singh at Bakhsiwala police station.
