Unidentified persons murdered a 45-year-old man with sharp-edged weapons and dumped his body on a vacant plot near Phullanwal village on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Ajmer Singh of Phullanwal Village. He worked for a private company at Dholewal area.
His scooter was recovered from Dugri Canal bridge, around 4 km away from the spot where the body was found.
Morning walkers spotted the body on the vacant plot on Friday and informed the police that reached the spot and initiated investigation.
They identified the victim through the documents recovered from the pockets of the deceased and informed the family, who claimed that the victim’s mobile phone and Rs 5,500 were missing from his pockets.
The family said Ajmer left work for home around 9.30pm on Thursday, but never reached the house. The Dugri police have registered a case of murder against unidentified accused.
