Man gets 10-year jail for theft and trespass

The court of sessions judge Tejwinder Singh, on Wednesday, sentenced to 10-year imprisonment Satish Kumar, a resident of Charkhi Dadri in Bhiwani district in Haryana, and imposed a fine of rts 10,000 on him for trespassing a house and committing a theft.

In case he fails to pay the fine, the convict will have to undergo one year's additional imprisonment.

The convict was caught red-handed while he was escaping from a house after committing a theft. Amit Garg, a resident of Chaudhary Partap Singh Street, had lodged a complaint with the police that he, along with his family members, had gone to Malviya Nagar to celebrate birthday of a friend on March 22, 2013 and when they came back in the evening, they found that somebody was present inside the house.

"The man ran out of the house and jumped on the road after scaling the boundary wall but, in the process, he received an injury in his left foot and they nabbed him," he had reported to the police.

The man handed over to police and a case under sections 454, 380, 411, 413 of IPC was registered against him at Kotwali police station. Stolen cash worth `4,000 was also seized from him.
