Man gets 10 years for peddling drugs

punjab Updated: Dec 19, 2012 23:17 IST

The court of district and session judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, awarded a 10-year sentence, along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh, to Jameel Jabar, a resident of Deharpur in Uttar Pradesh. Another year would be added to his sentence if he defaulted on the payment of fine.

A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) had arrested Jabar during a checking on Sirhind railway station on October 31, 2011. The GRP team had recovered 3,000 capsules of habit-forming drugs from his possession. A case under various sections of NDPS Act was slapped against the accused.
