A local court on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment a person for culpable homicide not amounting to murder of his father in Mehraj Basti in Rampura Phul.

The court of district sessions judge Tejwinder Singh sentenced to life imprisonment Anuj Kumar (19) and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 failing to pay which, he will have to undergo six-month additional imprisonment.

On April 22, 2013, Anuj had beaten up his father Ramesh Kumar, a native of Mujafarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh to death, after he denied providing money to him for purchasing drugs.

After realising that his father had suffered serious injuries in the attack, he took him to the civil hospital in Rampura Phul and claimed that he was attacked by a stray cattle and went away claiming that he was going for arranging money for his father's treatment but didn't come back. Later, his father died in the hospital.

After a complaint by Naresh Kumar, brother of the victim, the police registered a case under Section 304 of IPC against Anuj. The doctor in the post mortem report had also made it clear that injuries suffered by the victim cannot have been caused by any stray cattle.
