Man guns down neighbour's pet dog following rivalry

A man allegedly gunned down the pet dog of his neighbour with his licensed rifle, following a rivalry, in Nurpur Bet village of Ladhowal on Wednesday.

The accused, who was identified as Sadhu Singh, has been arrested. His rifle has been confiscated.

In her complaint, Manjit Kaur said her and Sadhu's family had rivalry over an issue. On Wednesday, while their pet dog was sitting outside the house, Manjit heard a gunshot. When she rushed outside, she was shocked to see her dog lying in a pool of blood, while Sadhu was allegedly standing near the dog with a rifle in his hand.

The Ladhowal police have registered a case against the accused under section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against the accused.
