Jamalpur police on Monday claimed to have cracked the kidnapping case of a six-year-old within six hours with the arrest of father of the child and his two accomplices. The police claimed that the child’s father had kidnapped his son Bavandeep Singh from Jagga Colony with help of his friends by luring the kid with kites on Sunday evening.

The police claimed that the child’s father had kidnapped his son Bavandeep Singh from Jagga Colony with help of his friends by luring the kid with kites on Sunday evening. The accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh, child’s father and his friends Vikas and Baldev.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP city-2) Satvir Singh Atwal said Rupinder Kaur informed the police on Sunday evening that her six-year-old child Bavandeep Singh was kidnapped. The police have reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case.

The police scanned the CCTV footage and got many clues regarding the accused. A few hours after the incident, the cops traced the kidnapped child and arrested the accused from a roadside dhaba at Chandigarh Road.

The ADCP said the accused had taken the child on a scooter and then shifted him into a car standing at the main road.

The car used in the incident was brought by Baldev from his garage, while Vikas was with Amandeep, while kidnapping the child.

The ADCP said that parents of the kidnapped child were separated and hearing of a case regarding the issue is on February 10.

Two days ahead of the court hearing, Amandeep had allegedly kidnapped his son. The accused was also ordered by the court to give Rs 25 lakh to his wife Rupinder, but he has failed to give it till now.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Jamalpur police station under Section 365 (kidnapping) and Section 120 B (conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
