The local police have arrested a driver of a trolley when he tried to break past the barricade installed on Ferozepur road here.

The police alleged that the driver even tried to crush a sub-inspector under the trolley when he was asked to stop the vehicle.

The incident took place on Monday evening when the police was checking vehicles on Ferozepur road.

Sub-inspector Balvir Singh has registered an FIR at the Sarabha Nagar police station and said that when he along with the senior officials of traffic police and district transport officials had installed a barricade near Lodhi Club road on Ferozepur road, a trolley came to the barricade.

“When I asked the trolley driver identified as Dalbir Singh, a resident of Doha Khurd, Patiala, to stop the vehicle ahead of the barricade, he instead of stopping the vehicle tried to crush me,” said Balvir.

A case under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) has been registered at the Sarabha Nagar police station.
