In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his teenaged sister over suspicion that she was having an affair with some boy in Shehzada village near Ramdas on the night of March 25.

The Amritsar (rural) police, who have arrested the accused, Malkit Singh, said no affair of the girl had come to their knowledge and the murder was committed only on the basis of suspicion.

Ajnala DSP Tilak Raj said the police came to know about the incident on Thursday. Malkit was nabbed from the house of a relative.

During his questioning, Malkit told the police that he had a doubt that his sister was involved with somebody and, in a fit of rage, he killed her by slitting her neck.

To hide the evidence, Malkit, along with two of his cousins, dumped the body on the outskirts of the village.

A case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered against Malkit. Efforts are on to nab his two cousins.
