Man held for trying to supply contraband to ‘friend’ at juvenile home
Police have arrested a man that was trying to throw a mobile phone, tobacco and bidi packets over the compound wall of a juvenile home in Shimlapuri area on Saturday.
Police have arrested a man that was trying to throw a mobile phone, tobacco and bidi packets over the compound wall of a juvenile home in Shimlapuri area on Saturday.
A case under Section 52 A (1) of the Prison Act has been registered against the accused identified as Gurmel Singh alias Gola, 20, of Wajidke Kalan of Barnala.
He told that he came to supply contrabands to one of his friends, who has been lodged at juvenile home on charges of drug peddling. Accused was later bailed out.
Head constable Gurinder Singh, who has arrested the accused, said Gurmel Singh managed to enter in the social security complex. The accused went near the compound wall and tossed a packet with intension to throw over it, but failed. The accused had made four attempts before the police reached there.
He added that following a tip-off the police reached the spot and nabbed him.
On March 30 as well the officials at juvenile home had recovered a mobile phone from one of the inmates, who was lodged here for drug peddling. A case was registered against the culprit under Section 52 A (1) of Prison Act.
