Man held with stolen garments worth 4 lakh

Sunder Nagar police have arrested a salesman for stealing garments from the shop where he worked.

The police have recovered garments worth ? 4 lakh from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Simarjit Nagar, Ludhiana.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kapil Kumar, incharge at Sunder Nagar police post, said, “The accused worked as a salesman at Satpal Singh’s shop in Sunder Nagar area. In his complaint, Satpal Singh alleged that garments were going missing from his shop for the past some days. He found that Ravi Kumar had been stealing clothes from his shop. Following, which he registered a complaint.”

The police then arrested the accused and recovered stolen clothes from his possession. The accused told the police that he had sold some of the clothes to mint money. A case under section 381(theft by servant) of the IPC has been registered against him at Basti Jodhewal police station.
