The court has also imposed a fine of R2,000 upon him and in case, he fails to pay it, he will have to stay two more months in prison.

The court has also acquitted Kamaljeet Singh and Mandeep Mor in this case. Amrik Singh, then sarpanch of Thalan village in Phillaur subdivision, lodged a complaint that Balvir Singh along with 15 unknown assailants with sharp-edged weapons, reached at his house to kill him, over a land dispute.

Amrik said he saved his life by hiding into a city hospital. After the accused failed to find Amrik, Balvir and others allegedly damaged his Indica car (PB08-2032). The police have registered a case against Balvir and the other accused under various sections of the IPC.
