A man was allegedly killed by his brother-in-law (husband of wife's sister) at Abohar following a dispute while having drinks and, to hide the crime, the accused buried the body in a pit.

According to information, Naresh Kumar, originally a native of Nepal, worked as a help in a house at the college road, Abohar, while his wife Rajabala was also working in another house.

On Tuesday night, Naresh went to the house of his brother-in-law Ram Parshad where the duo, along with Dotte, a relative of Ram, consumed liquor.

Meanwhile, during drinks, Naresh had a clash with the two over some issue and, after a scuffle, Naresh was hit with some sharp-edged weapon which resulted in his death.

Later on, the duo accused dug a pit in the backyard of the house and buried the body in it.

As Naresh did not return home during night, worried Rajbala came to the house of her sister Ram Piyari (wife of Ram Parshad).

However, as she started dusting the house, she happened to go to the backside of the house. As she stepped on the freshly dug out pit, her foot got stuck in it. As she tried to get away from the pit, she noticed a human hand in the pit.

Later on, the police were informed. During investigation, Ram Parkash and Dotte admitted to have committed the crime. On the basis of the statement of Rajbala, a case was registered under sections 302,201 and 34 of the IPC against Ram and Dotte, who were later taken into custody.
