Following the recent zila parishad and block samiti elections, a Congress supporter allegedly killed his friend, a SAD supporter, for not voting for the Congress candidate.

Both were having drinks on Tuesday evening when they had an altercation.
The Dehlon police registered a case of murder against Baljit Singh, 45, of Ranian village, who is at large.

Deceased Ram Kishan Singh, 60, also hailed from Ranian village. The two were discussing the recent elections and had an altercation over the casting of votes.

Baljit allegedly scolded Ram Kishan for not voting for the Congress candidate. Ram Kishan, who was a SAD supporter, resented it.

Dehlon SHO Satinder Pal Singh said the two entered into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Baljit took out an iron rod and hit Ram Kishan on the head before fleeing from the scene. The family rushed Ram Kishan to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday evening, he added.

The SHO said efforts were on to arrest the accused.
