A man was allegedly killed when an argument over the ‘taste’ of a chicken dish got out of hand in Jalandhar district’s Pasla village on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Satnam Singh allegedly killed his friend, Balwinder Singh, apparently in a fit of rage, as Balwinder did not like the way Satnam had prepared a dish.

The victim, the accused and another friend of theirs, Jasbir Singh, had been working in the farmhouse of Dr Dilbag Singh for the past few years. On Friday night, the trio planned to eat and have some liquor at the farm house.

Satnam prepared a chicken dish and the others brought the liquor.

During the course of the evening, Balwinder lost his temper and threw his plate claiming that the chicken was not tasty. Satnam and Balwinder got into an argument over this. Jasbir tried to intervene but to no avail following which he left.

Subsequently, the argument got ugly and, in a fit of rage, Satnam attacked Balwinder with a sharp-edged weapon and fled from the spot.

The incident came to light on Saturday, at around 10 am, when Jasbir arrived at the farm and found the body.

Phillaur DSP Harvinder Singh Bhalla and Goraya police station SHO Jarnail Singh rushed to the crime spot, accompanied by forensic experts.

The Phillaur DSP told HT that the accused was absconding.
