The Amritsar police on Tuesday arrested a man who was posing as the son-in-law of Union home minister Rajnath Singh. The accused was identified as Giri Raj.
Earlier, the imposter managed to get a hotel room booked by the staff of Punjab chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
Station house officer (SHO), Civil Lines, inspector Sukhwinder Randhawa said, “The accused made a call to Dr Sidhu’s office. The office staff booked a hotel room for him, but later they became suspicious and complained to us.”
A case under sections 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him.
