In the wake of rising crime incidents in the city, another murder was reported on Monday morning in the city.

Unidentified killers dumped a body outside the vacant plot of the irrigation department on the Ferozepur road, opposite the mini-secretariat Monday after killing a man.

The division number 8 police took the dead body and sent it to the civil hospital for post mortem. The police initiated investigation and questioned various people so as to identify the deceased, but to no avail. The police have registered a case under Section 302 in this regard.

A hair dresser that runs a makeshift on the roadside informed the police about the dead body lying outside the irrigation department.

SHO Gurdev Singh at division no 8 police station said the deceased was around 48 years old and appeared to be a labourer. The killers had stabbed him twice with a sharp-edged weapon on his chest.

It is suspected that the killers murdered the man late on Sunday night. While the cops have been suspecting murder with intention to loot, they have not ruled out old rivalry behind the killing. It is pertinent to mention that the exact location where the dead body was found is on the main Ludhiana-Ferozepur road. The mini-secretariat, police commissioner’s office are on the opposite side of the spot. Besides, this is also very close to Bharat Nagar Chowk and Bhai Bala Chowk, where police claimed to have been present throughout.

The SHO said the police would solve the case soon.
