A man stabbed his domestic help in the neck when she went to his room to serve him a glass of water on Tuesday evening (March 28). He also attacked his mother and pregnant sister when they came to the maid’s rescue and fled, leaving the trio injured. They were later admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
Police booked 28-year-old Abhishek Khurana after his mother Usha (55) lodged a complaint at Division 8 police station on Friday. There was an alleged property dispute in the family.
In her complaint, Usha stated that late on Tuesday evening, her son came home and directly went to his room. Their domestic help Sudha went to his room to serve him a glass of water when Abhishek suddenly flashed a knife and stabbed her in the neck. On hearing her screams, Usha rushed to the room where he attacked her too. When her daughter Shagun Malhotra, who is six months pregnant, came to their rescue, Abhishek attacked her too before fleeing the house. Hearing their cries for help, neighbours gathered there and rushed them to hospital.
Ghumar Mandi police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Additional deputy commissioner of police (City 3) Surinder Lamba said, “Earlier, the family was reluctant to lodge any case, but later on Friday they filed a complaint. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.”
Division 8 police registered a case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code against Abhishek.
