Man stabs friend to death at Kasol following altercation

A man allegedly stabbed his friend to death following an altercation while travelling between Kasol and Kullu town here on Saturday.

A man allegedly stabbed his friend to death following an altercation while travelling between Kasol and Kullu town here on Saturday. The victim, Ajay Pathania, 38, is a native of Palampur in Kangra district, while the accused has been identified as Subhash alias Bunty.



Police said the two friends hired a taxi from Palampur and visited Manikaran on Saturday, and in the evening checked in at a hotel in Kasol. A few hours later, the duo, said to be in an inebriated condition, entered into an altercation, following which the hotel owner asked them to leave.

Thereafter they hired a taxi to go to Kullu, and on the way, Subhash allegedly stabbed Ajay with a sharp-edged weapon, before fleeing from the scene. Taxi driver Ramesh Chand rushed the victim to a hospital in Jarri, but doctors declared him brought dead.


A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Subash.



Kullu superintendent of police Padam Chand said the body had been handed over to the family after autopsy, adding that efforts to nab the accused were on.
