Annoyed over alleged manhandling of his mother by his wife and mother-in-law, a resident of Mann Nagar allegedly stabbed them to death here on Friday evening.

After killing mother-daughter duo, the accused called the police and admitted to the crime. The police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused, identified as Jagdeep Singh.

According to information, Jagdeep (27) married Ramanjeet Kaur (25) about three years back and the couple had twin daughters. But their relation started deteriorating due to alleged interference of Ramanjeet’s family members.

Though, Ramanjeet left her in-laws house on many occasions, but came back after being persuaded by family members. Even a couple of days before the incident, she returned from her parents’ house. On Friday afternoon, Raman’s mother, Manjeet Kaur came to her daughter and she started arguing with Jagdeep’s mother Balwinder Kaur, and the mother-daughter duo allegedly manhandled her forcing her out of the house.

Getting information about the incident, Jagdeep rushed to his house and stabbed Manjeet and Raman to death.

The incident took place in the thickly populated area but none of the neighbours intervened to save the mother-daughter duo. Their bodies were sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Ramanjeet’s uncle, Balwant Singh, alleged that they had given an i20 car to Jagdeep at the time of marriage but he was hell bent upon giving it to his sister which became a cause of dispute between the couple.
