Mandi MP given warm reception at Old Manali village

On the 125th birth anniversary of prime minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Ramswaroop Sharma, BJP MP from Mandi constituency, formally inaugurated a ceremony to adopt Old Manali village as a model village on Friday.

Addressing villagers, he said he had selected the village as it fell under the Manali assembly constituency, adding that there were total 17 assembly segments in Mandi lok sabha constituency. He said steps would be taken to make Old Manali village a model village and there would be no dearth of funds to make this prestigious project a success. Sharma said all basic amenities would be provided at the village and to foreign and domestic tourists visiting the place. He said an audio visual programme would be prepared to depict detailed information regarding the Manu Rishi temple and ancient Hidimba temple.

The MP added that a grand Manu Dham complex would also be given shape at Old Manali. He revealed that an annual fair would be organised where talented youths of the village would be suitably rewarded.

The volunteers of Art of Living of Sri Sri Ravishankar and Baba Ramdev will also cooperate and contribute to the projects. Prominent among those who addressed the villagers were Jai Ram Thakur, MLA Seraj, Govind Singh Thakur, MLA Manali, Dhaneshweri Thakur, vice chairperson, zila parishad Kullu and panchayat pradhan Hukam Ram.
