Mandi SP launches 'Operation Mukti' against drug abuse

With the aim to make the youth aware about worse effects of drugs and refrain from such activities to live healthy life, superintendent of police (SP) Mohit Chawla launched 'Operation Mukti' campaign on Sunday.

He said he had issued orders at every police post and police stations of the district to coordinate with local panchayati raj institutions (PRIs) representatives to help police to reach every adult, school going children and women and youth organisations to spread message against the drug abuse.

“The Mandi police is taking help of social media sites, Facebook and WhatsApp, to contact youths and their parents to aware them against drug abuse,” he added.

He said that Mandi police have nabbed 54 accused and registered 45 cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act within last five months and police was keeping vigil near the educational institutions and vulnerable places from where drug peddler operates.
