Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kirron Kher was on a marathon campaign on Sunday. She along with party workers undertook three road shows, six public meetings and five rallies, trying to make maximum out of Sunday when most of the residents would be in their homes.
Kirron started her day from a gurdwara in Sector 30 at 7.30am and carried out a road show in ward number 18. She was accompanied by local leaders — district president Shakti Devshali, councillor Satinder Singh and state secretary Balwinder Kaur Rana.
After this, another road show was carried out in ward number 19 of Sector 26 police lines where many g reeted her from their balconies and rooftops.
The BJP candidate also campaigned at Arya Samaj temple in Sector 22 where she sought votes from women voters.
Kirron addressed her first public meeting at EWS Colony in Sector 49 and she was accompanied by senior BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan.
She also addressed members of Tenants Welfare Society in Sector 41. She said the party had always been in the favour of introducing the scheme of af fordable housing for Chandigarh residents and she would take up the matter in Parliament, if elected.
Kirron also addressed a meeting at Hallomajra and later participated in a street play to depict the scams of Congress party in EWS Colony, Sector 38.
Other programmes included a meeting with delegation of the Housing Board Federation, followed by meetings at Shanti Nagar in Manimajra, Sector 32 and Faida village.
Meanwhile, the BJP leaders also claimed that a former Congress Mahila Morcha officebearer Manjeet Kaur joined the BJP at party office among a dozen others. She was welcomed in the party by Kirron at party office in the presence of local BJP unit chief Sanjay Tandon.
