The Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL), on Sunday, organised a mass plantation drive here in collaboration with the Ludhiana-based non-government organisation (NGO), Sambhav Foundation.
More than 20,000 saplings over more than 35 acres of the area were planted in one hour within the plant premises in the biggest-ever drive of the region.
More than 1,000 people, including members of the Bharatiya Vikas Parishad, the Lions Club, the City Club, the Environmental Society and the Rural Development Foundation, school students from Moosa and Chehlawali, participated in the event.
Philip Chacko, Chief Operating Officer of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, also planted saplings along with others. He said, "Industries are required to for the development of the country, but it's our moral duty to take care of our natural resources and we must save them."
Dr Santosh Bharti, district epidemiologist, and Mandeep, MNREGA district coordinator, also planted saplings along with their team.
