MC asked to act against six illegal buildings

The chief vigilance officer of local bodies department has directed the Ludhiana municipal corporation to take action against six illegally constructed building in different areas of the city.

The chief vigilance officer (CVO) of local bodies department has directed the Ludhiana municipal corporation to take action against six illegally constructed building in different areas of the city.


These buildings have been constructed in violation of building bylaws at Jawahar Nagar, Ghumar Mandi and Hambran Road. Local bodies department CVO VP Singh said, "We have issued directions to Ludhiana municipal corporation to take required action against these buildings, which were constructed in violation of building bylaws."

According to sources, these buildings were constructed in residential areas and the officials concerned had found non-compoundable violations in these buildings. Earlier, the CVO had also inspected these buildings after a city resident filed a complaint with the principal secretary of local bodies department.

Out of these six unauthorised buildings, three are on Hambran Road, two at Jawahar Nagar, while another is at Ghumar Mandi. MC commissioner Rahul Tewari said, "I am not aware of the CVO's directions. But will take action on receiving the written order."
