Two days after the municipal corporation authorities demolished an illegal building reportedly belonging to president of Singh Sabha gurdwara and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Rajinder Singh Sidhu, the MC commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta lodged a complaint, accusing Sidhu of issuing threats to him.
Sidhu, on the other hand, said that Gupta's act was a tactic of the administration to pressurise him to withdraw a complaint he had lodged against Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in 2007 for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs.
On the basis of Sidhu's complaint, the dera chief was booked and the case was still pending in a Bathinda court. Sidhu's wife Baljit Kaur is a councillor from Ward 3.
Meanwhile, Sidhu has also accused the MC commissioner of demanding bribe. Gupta filed a written compliant with SSP Ravcharan Singh Brar and deputy commissioner KK Yadav, seeking security at his home, while accusing Sidhu of issuing him threats.
However, Sidhu deined the allegations and termed it a conspiracy to save Dera Sacha Sauda head.
