MC directs to remove unauthorised ad boards outside shops, showrooms

To ensure implementation of the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana Outdoor Advertisement Byelaws 2014, the civic body on Wednesday directed to remove the advertisement boards installed outside various shops, showrooms and buildings without its permission.

According to the new bylaws, a shop owner can display the name of shop, but can't promote any brand by displaying advertisement boards without permission.

MC has given one-week time to remove such unauthorised advertisement boards displayed at various shops, complexes and other commercial building without permission.

Currently, many of the shopkeepers and building owners have not only been displaying the name of shops, but also advertising one or the other brand.

The owners of shops or buildings have also been directed to install boards with shop's name and address as per the prescribed size.

Additional commissioner Rishipal Singh has directed to remove all unauthorised advertisement boards installed without permission. He appealed to the people to follow directions. He said MC would issue challan to the violators and take required action to remove these advertisements.

Rishipal Singh told that a person can writes the name of shop and address but can't display the advertisements.

Sources said there are thousands of shops in the city where advertisements of products with brand name have been displayed. The MC officials have also appealed to the residents to follow these bylaws to avoid any violation.

What bylaws say?

According to the bylaws, no advertisement shall be erected, exhibited, fixed or retained upon or over any land, building, wall, boarding, frame, post or structure or place within the city without the written permission of the commissioner granted in accordance with bylaws made under this act.
