The municipal corporation (MC) suggested the Ludhiana Rehri Phari Federation to provide a list of the identified vendors, who have been running their business for longtime, so that they could get a permission for running their business at vending zones setup by the MC.

A meeting regarding this was held between officials of tehbazari wing and members of the Ludhiana Rehri Phari Federation at Zone-A office of the MC on Wednesday.

The meeting was headed by the assistant commissioner Satwant Singh, who appealed to the vendors to station their carts on those places where these could not obstruct the traffic. He said that they would take action, only if any vendor obstructed the traffic on roads.

During the meeting, some venders alleged that the parking contractors were demanding bribe from them for stationing their carts at several areas. Besides, the members also raised the issue of alleged wrong action by the MC employees against the vendors in Zone-C and D.

MC superintendent Jasdev Singh Sekhon said, “We will verify the names given by the Ludhiana Rehri Phari Federation. The problem of traffic snarls will also be reduced with forming of vending zones in different areas.”

Assistant commissioner Satwant Singh gave strict directions to the officials to remove encroachments made by the shopkeepers in different markets.
