A divider that was levelled to gain easy access to other side of the road near Industrial Training Institute (ITI) on Gill Road, making it accident-prone, was plugged again by the municipal corporation.
HT on June 23 its report, “Shortcut-happy residents level dividers at will across city”, highlighted that part of the divider was removed near ITI on Gill Road.
RTI activist Kuldeep Singh Khaira had claimed that the divider was removed under political pressure.
Additional municipal commissioner Sumeet Jarangal had claimed that he would look into the matter if anybody had removed it without permission.
Now, the divider had been constructed once again to close the cut. The RTI activist said the MC had taken timely step to close the divider. “I appreciate that the MC has taken the step to close the levelled divider on time. The civic body should keep check in future so that nobody can remove any the divider without permission,” he said.
Executive engineer Karamjit Singh said the divider was removed by some unidentified persons. “We have also complained to the police about it. However, we have constructed again.”
