The municipal corporation (MC) conducted recovery of Rs 2.1 crore by regularising more than 13,000 water supply and sewer connections in the past three months. MC claimed that FIRs will be registered against violators from August 1 as the one-time regularisation policy will end on July 31.
MC had issued 6,793 notices to the violators while 564 connections were disconnected after the violators failed to get their connections regularised.
MC additional commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said they would conduct a drive to lodge FIRs against the violators from next month. Residents can get their connections regularised by July 31, he added.
He said, “The notices are being issued to the other violators. Connections will also be disconnected if violators fail to pay the pending dues.”
It is required to mention here that many people have not got their connections regularised. Sources said MC has no information about many people who had got water supply and sewerage connections illegally.
