Bathinda municipal corporation commissioner Uma Shakar Gupta's attempt to bring governance to the door-step of the citizens seemed to have received a tepid response on Tuesday, with only 10 complaints being put up for his notice and being offered any solution.

This is the first attempt made by the MC to reach out to the people. Gupta had even announced that all grievances would be settled on the spot.Residents from Kheta Singh Basti demanded that they be provide lean drinking water, a long-pending demand.

Residents from the area behind the bus stand wanted that the dairy in their area be shifted out, as the area stank because of it. Interestingly, this is old demand and the corporation has been planning to shift the dairy industry out of the state.

The commissioner admitted that the response was poor, but said that every second Tuesday and fourth Saturday, such interaction would be held.
