MC’s special house meeting on Smart City on Nov 9

As the Smart City project has moved to next phase - Smart City Plan (SCP), the municipal corporation (MC) is going to organise a special house meeting on November 9 regarding it.

The SCP would have pan city proposal that includes services which cover the entire city including bus service, retrofitting proposal includes putting storm sewer in the already developed area and greenfield development and the redevelopment plan, which would include the demolition of the slums to construct flats.

“Once the draft plan is prepared, it will be put on public domain through <> and the dedicated website of Smart City for feedback. The website for Smart City mission will be launched on Friday,” said MC additional commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.

Thori informed that the MC had received 77,000 feedback forms besides more than 2,000 submissions on <>, facebook and through email. He said the feedback is being analysed to prepare the Smart City plan.

It is worth mentioning here that Guy Perry, executive director, Master Planning and Urban Design, AECOM, Asia region, will reach Ludhiana on Friday for stakeholders’ discussion on the Smart City proposal.

Perry will conduct meetings with all the zonal commissioners, all superintending engineers of various branches including Buildings and Roads (B&R), Lights and Operations & Maintenance (O&M).

Besides, the municipal town planner and other building branch officials would remain present during meeting at MC Zone D office on Friday.

On Saturday, Perry would conduct meeting with various non-government organisations (NGOs).
