The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to give additional grace marks to Class 10 and 12 students who have secured medals in sports at the state, national and the international level. PSEB chairman Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal said even as the orders were passed in October last year, the students would get the benefit after the results for the 2013-14 session are out in May.
The medal winners in the state school games will get 15 additional grace marks while the national-level will get 25 marks.
“Students achieving top three positions in the state-level school games will get 15 marks while 25 marks will be given to those securing the same position at the national and international level,” she said. A total of 1,274 students who secured the top three positions will get grace marks.
“As many as 568 students under 17 years of age of Class 10 will get 15 marks while 102 students under the age group of 17 will get 25 grace marks,” a state sports department official said.
While in the under-19 category, total of 501 students of Class 12 will get 15 marks and 103 students will get 25 grace marks. The decision was taken on the pattern of Maharashtra and Goa, he said.
