More than 7,000 medical students appeared for the MD and MS entrance examination conducted by Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER) in various city colleges on Sunday.
A PGIMER spokesman said the examination was conducted at 11 centres across the city and went off smoothly. The examination was conducted amidst tight security at all the centres with mobile jammers put in place. Students were allowed to enter the examination halls only after leaving all their belongings outside the centres.
Even students wearing ornaments were not allowed to enter the examination halls. They had to take off the jewelleries and keep them in their bags before entering the eam halls.
The PGIMER had done arrangements to photograph and videograph the examination at all the centres and biometric attendance of those who appeared was also taken.
Considering the security arrangements, the candidates also came prepared. "I have left all ornaments at home. There were clear instructions regarding what to carry what not on the roll number slip,"said Rohini Thakur, who had come from Shimla to appear in exam.
The students, however, complained that the paper was lengthy. "It was a very lengthy paper. It was almost impossible to crack it in three hours,"said Garima Yadav and Pratma Sarkar, who had come from Delhi to appear in the examination.
"There were total 250 questions. Each of them required more time than what was given,"said Gaurav Chopra, another student from Nepal
