Meerut doctor booked for stalking Ludhiana-based doctor

Sarabha Nagar police booked a doctor based out of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stalking a female doctor from the city.

Sarabha Nagar police booked a doctor based out of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stalking a female doctor from the city.

The accused, 29-year-old Jagmeet Singh, is practising in Meerut. The woman works at a government hospital in Barnala. In her complaint, she stated that she completed her MBBS from a medical college in Tamil Nadu. The accused is also from the same college. She stated that even during their college years, the accused would stalk her and this continued after graduation. In 2014, she married a city-based doctor but the accused did not stop his actions.

The complainant added that she changed her contact number several times and also deleted her social media profiles to leave no trace for the accused to locate her. However, every time he managed to find her contact details.

Sub-inspector Gurmukh Singh, who is investigating the matter, said the complainant shifted to a locality on Ferozepur road after her marriage in 2014 and also changed her contact number. To get in touch with her, the accused met her parents and apologised and asked for her new address so that he could apologise to her as well. The woman filed a complaint against him when the accused visited her parents again for the same purpose on February 5.

Police registered a case under Section 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code.
