A mega job fest was organised on Thursday by the local administration to help the unemployed youth belonging to this border area in opting for a career and guide them in getting loans to start a small-scale business to earn their living.
A total of 379 people were provided loans under various government-sponsored self-employment schemes launched by various departments. The aspirants were also provided with knowledge about these schemes.
More than 1,500 people including men and women thronged the fair organised at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh stadium here.
Various departments including Punjab Khadi and Rural Industrial Board, animal husbandry department, dairy development, department of small savings schemes, department of food and civil supply, district industrial centre, agriculture department, horticulture department and several others had put up their stalls at the exhibition
People from Mamdot, Guru Har Sahai, Zira, Makhu and Ghalkhurd were found eager to know about the occupations such as dairy and food Processing.
A booklet containing information regarding various schemes of the state as well as Central government was also released on the occasion.
The fair was inaugurated by state BJP chief Kamal Sharma along with Ferozepur MP Sher Singh Ghubaya. VK Sharma, commissioner of Ferozepur and Faridkot divisions DPS Kharbanda, Hardiyal Singh Mann, SSP and Amit Kumar, ADC(G) were also present on the occasion.
