The district and sessions judge-cum-chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sanjiv Berry said that a mega lok adalat would be held on April 12.
The cases to be heard include civil, criminal, revenue, matrimonial,traffic challans and petty offences.
It was also decided at a meeting to increase the number of village legal aid support and care centres at the block level. The progress report of the District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, was also presented. It said 156 lok adalats had already been held in the district and 35,955 cases were taken up in the lok adalat and 27,219 cases were disposed of.
Further, 1526 applications for legal aid had been received , 358 legal awareness seminar were held and 105 cases have been settled by way of mediation.
The meeting was attended by deputy commissioner Arun Sekhri, Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, D.P Singla, additional District and Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, Charanjeet Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurpartap Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary-District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib.
In the meeting it was discussed that the ADR Centre ( samjhauta sadan) will be inaugurated on March 31 where a full fledged mediation centre would be run along with permanent lok adalat (public utility services).
