Mentally-ill woman commits suicide

A woman, who was suffering from some mental ailment for the past several years, ended her life at Dhadogal village near Dhuri in Sangrur district on Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as Jasbir Kaur, who committed suicide after hanging with a ceiling fan.

Jasbir was married to Harbinder Singh, who settled in Dubai in 2008.

The police said according to the statements of the family members, Jasbir was under acute depression as her husband hardly visited her and other family members. He last came to India for two months in 2012.

The police said Jasbir took the extreme step when she was alone in the house. The matter came to light when her two daughters along with other family members found her hanging in her room.

She was rushed to the local civil hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The body was handed over to the family after post mortem.
