Midday meal row: scheme incharge faces suspension

Fatehgarh Sahib deputy commissioner Arun Sekhri has recommended the suspension of the teacher, Gurmail Kaur, who was incharge of mid-meal scheme in Government High School, Talania.
She was found guilty in an inquiry conducted by district education officer DEO ( primary). He has also asked the director- general school education (DGSE) to chargesheet the teacher.
The DC said that the district education of ficer DEO ( primary) Malkeet Singh submitted his report saying that the quantity and quality of the mid-day meal was found to be compromised in the school and the meal that was being served to students was also found less in quantity on May 29 when the team had raided the school.
Malkeet Singh, inquiry officer, also said that such allegations were levelled against Gurmail Kaur, an art and craft teacher earlier also.
She was not cooking nutritious food for the students and quantity was found to be less as per the quota.
The of ficer further said it was learnt that proper ingredients were also not found in the cooked food. High drama was witnessed in the school when the school management committee chairperson along with other members alleged that the gover nment authorities had been providing less food to school students under midday meals scheme on May 29.
School management committee chairperson Sunita along with other members alleged that the school authorities had failed to provide food items and all students were not able to get food.
After the protest, the DEO reached there and found the quantity of cooked food less.
After his intervention, they again cooked the food to distribute it among students.
