Migrant labourer found dead in Sangrur sewer

The body of a migrant labourer was recovered from a sewer near Jejjy Palace on Patiala Road here on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Indresh Kumar of Ambedkar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, sweepers spotted the bodywhen they came to clean in the morning. They informed
the police.

Deputy superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Dhindsa told HT that investigation revealed that Indresh worked at Dream Land Colony nearby.

On Wednesday night, he had gone to the Sangrur market to buy vegetables, but did not return. Dhindsa said that body was found with several injury marks.

A case was registered under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons, he added.
