Former Bhindranwale Tiger Force (BTF) terrorist Hardial Singh "Chatra" on Thursday fell into the police hands after nine years of being on the run.

Officers of the counter-intelligence wing arrested him near the city bus stand. He is wanted in six cases, including murder, registered at Patti in Tarn Taran district. Awarded life imprisonment on February 5, 1997, he had been evading arrest since October 26, 2005, after the Punjab and Haryana high court had dismissed his request for bail.

"Chatra has more cases registered against him at Sadiq (Ferozepur), Sultanpur (Kapurthala), Sarhali (Tarn Taran), and Bhikhiwind (Tarn Taran)," additional inspector general of police (counter-intelligence) Ashwani Kumar stated in a press release issued here after the arrest.
