Milkha Singh gives away degrees at RSD college

It was a memorable day for the pass-outs of Ram Sukh Dass College here, who received their degrees from the legendary athlete Padam Shri Milkha Singh at the convocation of the college on Monday.

Milkha Singh, one of the finest athletes and an iconic figure, who was invited as chief guest at the convocation, was warmly welcomed by the principal, management, staff and the students and the elite of the city.

Kamal Sharma, president, Punjab BJP, was also present on the occasion.

The function started with the welcome speech by B B Sanwalka, chairman of the College Managing Committee. He was followed by Vishva Bandhu Sudhir, prinicpal, who read out the annual progress report of the college. Milkha Singh also honoured the meritorious students who excelled in various fields.

Prominent among those, who were honoured for their academic accomplishments included Sukhmanpreet Kaur (BSc-I, 1st in PU), Namita (BSc-I, 2nd in PU) and others.

Shivang Sudhir received the "Best artist of the year" award for his acclaimed performance in youth festivals while Rajbir Singh received "Best sportsperson of the year" award. Balram Sharma was declared as the best NCC cadet and Lal Singh the best NSS cadet.
