Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes chairman Rajesh Bagha held a meeting with deputy commissioner Shruti Singh and SSP (rural) Yurinder Singh on Friday to take stock of investigations into the gangrape of a 14-year-old in Mandhala Channa village in Shahkot sub-division.
The SSP informed the chairman that following Punjab DGP's orders, inspector Manjeet Kaur, along with a team of police officials, had been for the girl's security at the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar.
He added that the police had registered a case against Charanjit Singh, Balwinder Singh and Sher Singh, the day of the complaint. However, the accused were still at large.
He said that a special investigation team has been formed under the supervision of SP (D) Rajender Singh and raids were on to nab the accused. Another commission member Parkash Singh Garhdiwala was also present at the meeting.
The minor girl was brutalized on January 28 by three relatives, who had allegedly abducted her from her house at Mandhala Channa village.
