The students of the Guru Nanak Senior Secondary School, Jourian Kalan had a narrow escape, when four unidentified persons reportedly opened fire at their school bus, here near village Mangian under Dera Baba Nanak police station, today.
According to the information available, the bus was going from village Jourian Kalan to Ramdas to drop more than two dozen students of the school.
In his complaint to the Dera Baba Nanak police, the driver of the bus told that he was working as driver of a school bus belonging to Guru Nanak Senior Secondary School, Jourian Kalan and today afternoon around 3 PM, when he was going towards Ramdas to drop the students, four youths came into white Indica car from opposite direction and stopped the bus.
Out of them, one of the accused with covered face, opened fired at the bus but luckily, the bullet hit the middle pool of the bus after breaking the front glass and missed the target.
Listening to the voices of firing, the near by people rushed to the spot, forcing the miscreants to flee from the spot on their without numbered car.
Getting information, a team of police under DSP, Dera Baba Nanak rushed to the spot and sent the students to their residences after arranging another bus.
On the statement of the driver, the police had registered a case under section 307, 148, 149 IPC, 25/55/59 Arms Act against unidentified persons.
When contacted DSP, Dera Baba Nanak police station, Gurmeet Singh, he told that the driver of the bus, Tersem Singh had some land dispute with his neighbourers but they were investigating the case and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
